  • A Regular TV (Non-Smart TV) is a traditional television that displays broadcast or externally connected input only, without an operating system or internet-based features. It requires external devices, such as a set-top box or media player, to access streaming services and smart functions.

A Smart TV is a television that runs on an operating system and connects to the internet, allowing users to access apps and online services without additional device. It enables users to stream content, download apps and enjoy an interactive viewing experience.

An AI TV is an advanced Smart TV equipped with a dedicated NPU that analyses content and the viewing conditions in real time. It automatically optimises picture quality and sound while delivering personalised recommendations based on viewing habits and user preferences. Beyond entertainment, AI TVs can act as LLM-powered Agent TVs that understand user intent, helping users find information and perform tasks through natural conversations. They can also function as AI Home Hubs that intelligently connect, monitor and control compatible devices, making the TV a central hub for both entertainment and connected living.
  • Yes. In recent years, AI has become an increasingly important part of the Smart TV experience, making TVs more personalised, intuitive and convenient to use. AI-powered features can help users discover content more easily, receive tailored recommendations and access information more naturally based on their interests and viewing habits.

Samsung Smart TVs take this experience further with Samsung Vision AI Companion. While watching content, users can instantly ask questions about what is on screen and receive relevant, context-aware answers directly on their TV. Whether learning more about an actor, a location, a piece of artwork, a recipe or other on-screen content, Samsung Vision AI Companion helps users explore information without interrupting their viewing experience.

Samsung Vision AI Companion also uses AI-powered technologies to enhance picture and sound. By intelligently analyzing content and viewing conditions, it helps optimise picture quality and audio performance for a more immersive entertainment experience. Combined with personalised recommendations and intuitive interactions, Samsung Vision AI Companion helps transform the TV into a smarter everyday companion.
  • Yes. AI TVs are designed to go beyond traditional voice commands by understanding the context and intent behind what users say. Rather than simply responding to predefined commands, AI-powered features can interpret natural conversations, understand what users are looking for and provide the most relevant answers or actions.

Samsung Smart TVs take this experience further with Samsung Vision AI Companion. While watching content, users can ask questions naturally about what is on screen and receive context-aware responses without interrupting their viewing experience. Whether learning more about an actor, a location, a recipe or a piece of artwork, Samsung Vision AI Companion helps users explore information in a more intuitive way.

Samsung Vision AI Companion can also act as an intelligent agent that helps users discover content, access information and perform tasks through natural interactions, making the TV a smarter, more personalised companion for everyday entertainment and connected living.
  • AI upscaling is most valuable when watching lower-resolution or highly compressed content on a 4K TV, where it can noticeably improve perceived clarity and detail.

It works by converting 720p or 1080p video to near-4K quality in real time, analysing textures, edges, contrast and motion to enhance image sharpness and reduce noise. Samsung AI-powered processors use advanced, scene-by-scene image optimisation to make these enhancements more precise than those achieved through basic upscaling.

The benefits are most noticeable when watching streaming platforms, live sports, broadcast TV and online videos, where source quality can vary significantly. For native 4K content, AI upscaling plays a greater role in fine-tuning overall picture quality than in increasing resolution.
  • Smart TVs stream content by sending video data over the internet directly to built-in apps. With Samsung's Smart Hub, users can easily access platforms like Netflix and YouTube, sign in and watch content directly from their TV without external hardware.

Streaming content is delivered over the internet in small data segments, allowing videos to start playing quickly while the remaining content loads in the background. To help prevent interruptions, Smart TVs use buffering and adaptive bitrate streaming to automatically adjust video quality based on network conditions.
  • Yes. Samsung Smart TVs support gaming through built-in apps and cloud gaming services, allowing users to play games without a console by streaming them over the internet or by playing lightweight games directly on the TV.

Gaming performance depends on the TV’s hardware, Game Mode optimisation and, for cloud gaming, the stability of the internet connection, as input responsiveness and visual quality can be affected by network conditions. Bluetooth controllers can also be used for a smoother gaming experience.

    * Available games and content may vary by countries and models and are subject to change without notice.
  • Yes, many Smart TVs can display wallpapers, photos and artwork when they are not being used for watching content. Depending on the TV brand and model, these features can turn the screen into a digital display that complements a room's decor and adds a more personalised experience.

Samsung Smart TVs expand on this experience with features such as Generative Wallpaper and Art Mode. Generative Wallpaper uses AI to create personalised images based on selected themes and preferences, while Art Mode, available on select models such as The Frame, displays artwork, photos and other visual content, allowing the TV to function like a digital frame when not actively in use.

To help maintain display quality during extended periods of displaying static images, Samsung Smart TVs include settings that allow users to adjust how long the screen remains on or when it enters standby mode. On OLED models, features such as Pixel Shift subtly move on-screen images at regular intervals to help reduce the risk of image retention or burn-in.
  • Yes. Samsung Smart TVs support Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to connect compatible devices such as headphones, soundbars and speakers wirelessly.

If your TV came with a Samsung Smart Remote, it supports Bluetooth, as the remote uses Bluetooth to pair with the TV. If your TV came with a different type of remote, you can check whether it supports Bluetooth by navigating to Settings > Sound > Sound Output. If Bluetooth Speaker List appears, your TV supports Bluetooth connectivity. If you are still unsure, refer to your TV's user manual for more information.

If your TV does not support Bluetooth, you may still be able to connect Bluetooth headphones or speakers using a compatible Bluetooth adapter. These adapters can typically be connected through a 3.5 mm audio port or a standard left/right audio input (AUX) port.

Please note that Bluetooth connectivity may not be available for certain accessories such as game controllers or keyboards. In these cases, compatible wireless alternatives may be available depending on the device and TV model.
  • To replace cable, users typically combine on-demand streaming services (such as Netflix) with live TV streaming services that provide real-time channels for news, sports and entertainment. These services can be added, changed or canceled at anytime, offering more flexibility than traditional cable subscriptions.

A stable internet connection is required, and streaming quality depends on connection speed. Higher speeds are needed for smooth HD or 4K streaming, especially when multiple devices are connected simultaneously.
  • Yes. You can watch local channels on a Smart TV such as a Samsung Smart TV by using multiple access methods, including a terrestrial antenna, IPTV or cable provider integration, and internet-based streaming apps. This enables users to access live local broadcasts, news, and scheduled programming through both traditional signal reception and connected TV services, depending on availability and network setup.
  • Yes. Samsung Smart TVs need software updates because they run on an operating system that manages the entire system, including apps, settings and smart features, and this structure allows continuous improvements and maintenance.

Updates are required to maintain compatibility with streaming apps like Netflix and YouTube while also providing firmware-level security patches that protect the device from vulnerabilities in an always-connected environment.

They also improve the user experience by fixing bugs, stabilising the interface and enhancing performance

Updates are typically delivered automatically over the internet.
  • Samsung Smart TVs offer strong value for money across different price ranges, with models like Crystal UHD, Mini LED and Neo QLED designed to match different budgets and usage needs.

The value mainly depends on balancing picture quality, smart features and performance. Samsung’s Tizen OS provides smooth navigation and built-in streaming apps, while higher-end models deliver enhanced picture and sound quality.
  • Yes. As Smart TVs become more connected, they may store various types of personal information, including account credentials, app data, viewing preferences and information related to connected smart home devices. As a result, security plays an increasingly important role in protecting user privacy and data.

Samsung Smart TVs are protected by Samsung Knox Security, which provides comprehensive three-layer security across the hardware, platform and service levels. At the hardware level, Samsung Knox Security helps ensure the secure booting of the TV's operating system and protects against unauthorised access to sensitive information. At the platform level, it helps safeguard stored data through encryption and helps block malicious applications. At the service level, it helps protect users while using internet-based services, including helping prevent access to phishing websites.

Samsung Knox Security also helps protect connected experiences across devices. Through Samsung Knox Matrix, users can securely connect and share data between compatible devices such as TVs, smartphones, tablets and SmartThings-enabled Samsung devices. Together, these security technologies help keep personal information protected while delivering a connected Smart TV experience.
  • The fundamental difference between wired and wireless TV connections is how the TV receives its signal — wired connections transmit data through a cable, while wireless connections stream data over a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth network. Understanding this distinction helps you choose the right setup for your needs.

When wired is the better choice:
    • Delivers a stable, uncompressed signal with no buffering, dropouts or latency
    • Ensures reliable performance for 4K/8K streaming and gaming
    • Provides consistent, high-quality transmission regardless of network conditions

When wireless is the better choice:
    • No cables or adapters are required — connect wirelessly from anywhere in the room with no complicated setup.
    • Ideal for everyday streaming, casual screen mirroring or casting content from your phone

Choose wired when picture quality and responsiveness are the priority. Choose wireless when flexibility and ease of use matter most.
  • Samsung Smart TVs support antenna input for terrestrial broadcast reception through a built-in digital tuner that converts over-the-air (OTA) RF signals from a connected antenna into viewable audio and video channels.
When a coaxial antenna cable is connected, the TV automatically detects and scans available terrestrial channels using its built-in tuner, allowing users to receive free local broadcast programming directly through over-the-air signals.
