With almost every new launch, I've been able to upgrade and pass my previous — usually still very new! — Samsung phone to my daughter, who happily enjoys my pre-loved devices. Somehow, one Samsung upgrade becomes an upgrade for two people in our family. This time, I'm jumping from the Galaxy S25 Ultra to the Galaxy Z Flip8, and what a difference! I recently attended a wedding while on summer holiday, and honestly, I wish I'd had the Flip8 then. Anyone who loves a beautiful little clutch bag knows the struggle of trying to fit a full-sized phone inside without the phone becoming the main item in the bag! 😂 The Flip8 folds so perfectly into smaller bags that this alone has become one of my favourite things about it. Coming from the S25 Ultra, I wondered whether going smaller would feel like a compromise. So far, it doesn't. When folded, it's wonderfully compact, but open it and I still get the beautiful, spacious Samsung display I'm accustomed to. The hinge feels smooth and solid, and there is something incredibly satisfying about flipping it shut when I'm done. I'm still getting to know the battery performance and long-term durability, so I'll reserve my final judgement on those. But my first impression is that I haven't downgraded from my Ultra — I've simply chosen a different kind of flagship experience, one that fits my lifestyle (and my clutch bags!) a little better. 😉 Another Samsung launch, another upgrade for me… and another very happy daughter waiting for her “new” phone. 😂📱 Some traditions are worth keeping.

It's my second time with galaxy z flip, first was flip 5 and it's already great phone for me, but still had it issues with notification to open it in least expected situations, z flip 8 still have this small problem but with bigger cover screen I can easily wipe it off from the issues list and enjoy it, hinge definitely works better with that satisfying snap while opening, crease is less visible than before even after few weeks of usage. Sharpeness and size of cover display is my favourite thing in that phone, it really looks great, battery keeps well but still need to be improved as I always have this feeling that it won't last till the end of the day and I will have to recharge it, inner screen is very bright and clear to read, with great responsiveness detecting every touch without problems, time will show of course how it will work for another year and if samsung will give me good reason to change it for another model or stay with this one.

This one is only a slight upgrade, though. Camera etc are much the same. The more powerful chip is noticeable when in use. My biggest issue is battery. It didn't need to be slimmer and lighter, because it was already a compact size. It needed a bigger capacity battery, that doesn't run so hot. This thing gets insanely hot if, say, you are running android auto with sat nav going. To the point where the phone shuts down. Not good, during a long car journey to somewhere you don't know. So, this has not changed from the 7. I was hoping it would. Everything else is good.
I have been using the new flip8 for 3 weeks now and I am quite happy with it. I have transitioned from iOS system to Android and I am still getting used to it but the phone itself is nice. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is the front camera that has quite low quality. The battery life is quite good as it lasts me an entire day and then some. It does tend to overheat if used outside in the sun.

The hinge was never a problem on my 5, and it seems to be even smoother on this one, and no screen creased yet, although, that never really bothered me anyway. I have recently discovered "Bixby" as well. I always knew it was a thing on my old phone, but never used it, as I thought, well, if I have Google, why do I need Bixby?? It is SO GOOD! I recently upgraded from the Motorola RAZR plus 2024 and I've got to say, while having a similar look and feel, the overall experience is mind boggingly different. The full back display and cameras being on the same surface allows for photography moments that no other smartphone series does. The Z Flip8 feels lighter and yet more durable than it's predecessors and after double checking right now... The main screen 'crease' is nowhere to be seen. The only place where the phone feels lacking is it's battery performance. It's not bad by any means but is also nothing to write home about and will need a charge before the day is up as well as overnight. Genuinely a fun and functional flip phone - would recommend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] so I had the flip 4 and went back to tablet phone (s25+) to see how i would get on. needless to say I went back to the zflip 8 and, so far, I love it. easy to use main screen and great screen on front which can do so much and I'm still learning! the main screen is very responsive and battery life seems good although I'm still to test properly . the feel of the phone is so much better than the flip 4 and s25plus, much thinner than both of these making it unobtrusive when in pocket . hope the durability of the hinge has improved as this was the only thing that let me down on the 4 version. quality of pictures and videos are great for a phone. so far so good and so glad I switched back to a flip.
