FAQ:
All About Samsung Connect Phone

  • What is screen mirroring?

Screen mirroring lets you display your phone’s screen to a bigger screen, such as a Smart TV. Exactly what’s showing on your phone will appear on the TV, whether it’s an app, a photo or a video. Whenever you do something on your phone, that action will also be shown on the other screen.
  • Smart View and AirPlay are both wireless technologies that enable you to play media and share what's on your phone screen to a TV. Which one you choose depends on a few factors.

Smart View works on Samsung Galaxy phones and can share content to Samsung smart TVs and Miracast-compatible devices. AirPlay works on Apple devices and can stream video and music, as well as mirror your device's screen to a supported Samsung smart TV (or another compatible TV with Tizen OS).

Ultimately, the choice is simple — Samsung Galaxy users will use Smart View and iPhone users will use AirPlay. If you own a Samsung smart TV, you don't need to worry, as it supports both technologies and can connect to whichever phone you're using.
  • Note: Make sure your TV is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone. Your phone must support a mirroring function, such as Screen Mirroring or Smart View. To check whether your phone supports a mirroring function, refer to your phone's user manual. Smart View is not a downloadable app; it is located in the Quick Settings panel on your phone.

On Galaxy devices, the screen mirroring feature is called Smart View.

    1. On your phone, open the Quick Settings panel by swiping down from the top of the screen.
    2. Tap the Smart View icon.
    3. Select your TV from the list of available devices.
    4. Tap Start now.
(Note: If prompted, enter the PIN on your TV or allow access to your TV to complete the connection.)
    5. Your phone’s screen will now appear on the TV.
(Note: You may be prompted to change the aspect ratio on the TV. Tap Change on your phone if desired.)

For iOS devices, the screen mirroring feature is called AirPlay, and it does the same exact thing — mirror images, videos and other media. Using AirPlay is similar to using Smart View, but there are a few differences.

    1. On your iPhone, open the Control Center by swiping down from the top right of the screen.
    2. Tap the Screen Mirroring icon.
    3. Select your TV from the list of Available devices.
    4. When the pop-up appears, enter the AirPlay Code displayed on the TV screen on your iPhone.
    5. Your phone’s screen will now appear on the TV.
  • Smart View is Samsung's built-in wireless screen-sharing feature that lets you mirror your Android device to a Samsung TV in just a few steps. Before starting, make sure both your phone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

To connect, swipe down on your Android device to open the Quick Settings panel and tap Smart View — or go to Settings > Connected Devices > Smart View. Your TV will appear in the list of nearby devices; tap it to initiate the connection and confirm on your TV if prompted.

Alternatively, open the SmartThings app, select your TV and tap Mirror Screen (Smart View) from the menu. Once connected, your phone's screen will appear on your TV in real time.

If the connection doesn’t work, make sure both your phone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and that screen mirroring (Smart View) is enabled on the TV. Restarting both devices often resolves temporary issues.
  • Smart View is supported on Tizen OS-based Smart TVs released since 2015.
  • AirPlay is supported on all Samsung Smart TVs released since 2018.
