Finding the right charger for your Galaxy Watch can help you keep it powered and ready when you need it. Whether you need to replace a lost charger, want to use one from another Galaxy Watch, or are wondering if another wireless charging option is compatible, this guide will help you understand which charging accessories work with your watch.

Note: Information provided applies to devices sold in Canada. We recommend using Samsung charging accessories when charging your Galaxy Watch.

The Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2 include a wireless charger in the box. Connect the charger's USB cable to a compatible power adapter, such as the one you already use to charge your Samsung Galaxy, and then plug the power adapter into a wall outlet. The power adapter should provide at least 5 V and 2 A.

If you need an additional charger, the Fast Wireless Charger for Galaxy Watch (EP-OL300) is compatible with the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and is available from Samsung Canada. While this accessory is compatible with both watches, it is not the same charger included in the box.

Your new Galaxy Watch comes with the charging accessory designed for your model inside the box. Most Galaxy Watch models use a magnetic wireless charging pad, while the original Galaxy Watch uses a wireless charging dock. Check the sections below to find your Galaxy Watch and learn more about its charging accessory.

Using a wireless charging pad

A magnetic wireless charging pad is included with your new Galaxy Watch. This type of charger is used with the following models:

  • Galaxy Watch9 series
  • Galaxy Watch Ultra2
  • Galaxy Watch8 series
  • Galaxy Watch7 series
  • Galaxy Watch Ultra
  • Galaxy Watch6 series
  • Galaxy Watch5 series
  • Galaxy Watch4 series
  • Galaxy Watch3
  • Galaxy Watch Active2
  • Galaxy Watch Active

To use the wireless charging pad, connect its USB cable to a compatible power adapter, such as the one you already use to charge your Samsung Galaxy, and then plug the power adapter into a wall outlet. The power adapter should provide at least 5 V and 2 A. Place your Galaxy Watch with the back of the watch centered on the charging pad. The magnets will help position the watch correctly, and the screen will indicate when charging begins.

The charging pad included with your Galaxy Watch may vary depending on the model. Some charging pads from earlier Galaxy Watch models can also be used with newer models. For example, the charging pad for the Galaxy Watch7 series is compatible with the Galaxy Watch9 series and Galaxy Watch Ultra2. For the best charging performance, use the charging accessory included with your watch or a Samsung charging accessory confirmed to be compatible with your model.

Using a wireless charging dock

The original Galaxy Watch uses a wireless charging dock instead of the magnetic charging pad included with newer models.

The wireless charging dock is used only with the following model: Galaxy Watch.

Connect the charging dock to a compatible power adapter, and then plug the power adapter into a wall outlet. Place your Galaxy Watch into the dock with the back of the watch resting against the charging surface. The LED indicator on the dock will show the charging status.

In addition to the charging accessory designed for your Galaxy Watch, some models can also be charged using a compatible wireless charging pad or Wireless power sharing. Compatibility varies depending on your Galaxy Watch model, so review the information below before using an alternative charging method.

Using a wireless charging pad

Compatible Samsung wireless charging pads provide another convenient way to charge your Galaxy Watch. Some charging pads can also charge multiple compatible devices at the same time, such as your Galaxy Watch and Samsung Galaxy phone. The Super Fast Wireless Charger Duo is one option available from Samsung Canada.

Place the back of your Galaxy Watch flat against the appropriate charging area on the pad. Some watch bands may prevent the watch from resting flat against the charging surface. If this happens, you may need to remove the watch band before placing the watch on the charging pad.

Charging speed can vary depending on the charging pad and your Galaxy Watch model. If you have a Galaxy Watch9 or Galaxy Watch Ultra2, using an older wireless charging pad will result in slower charging. For the best charging performance, use the charging accessory included with your watch or a Samsung charging accessory confirmed to be compatible with your model.

Using Wireless power sharing

Wireless power sharing lets you charge a compatible Galaxy Watch by placing it on the back of a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone. This can be useful when your Galaxy Watch needs power and its usual charger is not available. For instructions on setting up and using this feature, see our guide to Wireless power sharing.

Wireless power sharing is supported by the following Galaxy Watch models:

  • Galaxy Watch6 series
  • Galaxy Watch5 series
  • Galaxy Watch4 series
  • Galaxy Watch3
  • Galaxy Watch Active2
  • Galaxy Watch Active

The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 series do not support Wireless power sharing. Wireless power sharing is not supported on the Galaxy Watch7 series and newer Galaxy Watch models. If your watch does not support this feature, use the charging accessory designed for your Galaxy Watch or another compatible Samsung charging accessory.

If you have an older Samsung watch or Galaxy Fit, you may need a different charging accessory than the ones used with newer Galaxy Watch models. Your new watch or fitness band comes with the charging accessory designed for your model inside the box.

Using a wireless charging dock

Some older Samsung watches use a wireless charging dock instead of the magnetic wireless charging pad included with newer Galaxy Watch models. This type of charger is used with the following models: Gear S3 and Gear Sport.

Connect the wireless charging dock to a compatible power adapter, and then plug the power adapter into a wall outlet. Place your watch in the dock with the back of the watch resting against the charging surface. The LED indicator on the dock will show the charging status.

Using a charging cradle

Galaxy Fit models use a dedicated charging cradle that connects directly to the fitness band. This type of charging accessory is designed specifically for compatible Galaxy Fit models and cannot be replaced by a Galaxy Watch wireless charging pad.

Connect the charging cradle to a compatible power source, and then attach your Galaxy Fit to the cradle. Make sure the charging contacts on the fitness band and cradle are properly aligned. The screen will indicate when charging begins.

Galaxy Fit models do not support the alternative wireless charging methods available with some Galaxy Watch models, such as wireless charging pads or Wireless power sharing.

If your Galaxy Watch does not charge as expected, the charger may not necessarily be the problem. Before replacing it, check the following:

  • Make sure you are using a Samsung charging accessory that is compatible with your Galaxy Watch model.
  • Make sure the back of your Galaxy Watch is properly aligned with the charging surface. When using a magnetic wireless charging pad, the magnets should help position the watch correctly.
  • Check the watch and charging accessory for dust, moisture, or other foreign material, and clean them if necessary before charging.
  • Do not place metal or magnetic objects, such as coins or magnetic cards, between your Galaxy Watch and a wireless charging pad. These objects can interfere with charging and may cause the watch or charger to overheat.
  • If your Galaxy Watch or charger becomes too hot, charging may slow down or stop temporarily. Allow them to cool before trying again.
  • When using a wireless charging pad, make sure the watch can rest flat against the charging surface. Some watch bands may interfere with positioning and may need to be removed.
  • When using Wireless power sharing, you may need to remove a case or other accessory from your Samsung Galaxy phone. Keep the phone and watch properly aligned while charging.
  • Check that the charging cable and power adapter are securely connected. If possible, try another compatible power adapter or wall outlet to help determine whether the charger is causing the problem.

Note: If your Galaxy Watch still does not charge with a compatible charging accessory, the charger or watch may require service. Contact Samsung Support for additional assistance.
