The SmartThings app isn't Working on my Phone

There are a couple of reasons why the SmartThings app may not be working on your device.

The main reason is generally device compatibility. If you have an older model of phone, it may not meet the minimum requirements in order for the app to be able to function on your device.

Follow these steps to check if your device is compatible:

Play Store

Step 1

Go to the Play Store page for the SmartThings app.

Step 2

Scroll down and tap About this app.

Step 3

Scroll until 'Compatibility for your active devices'.

Here you can see if the app is compatible with your phone, or any other devices registered with your Samsung Account.

Apple App Store

You can find relevant device compatibility information in the 'Information' section of the SmartThings App Store Page.

I Can't Connect my Fridge to SmartThings

There are a couple of reasons why the SmartThings app may not connect to your Refrigerator.

Firstly, ensure your fridge is compatible with the SmartThings functionality. You can easily check this via our Compatible Devices page. The quickest way to search is via the Model Number.

Second, you must ensure you are logged into your Samsung Account on SmartThings for full functionality.

Finally, you may just be having trouble connecting via the SmartThings process - in this case, please have a look at our Guide to Connecting SmartThings to your Fridge.

Note: the guide is for a Family Hub fridge, but steps are largely the same for most other SmartThings compatible models. A Wi-Fi connection is required.
